New Testament - Given to the early Church* *Acts 15:28-29* - The Council of Jerusalem’s letter to Gentile believers > _"It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: > You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality..."_ This was one of 4 rules given to new Gentile Christians. *Acts 21:25* repeats the same instruction. --- *Why?* 1. *Theological*: Blood represents life, and life belongs to God. It was used for atonement. Leviticus 17:11 2. *Practical*: In ancient cultures, eating blood was also tied to pagan rituals. Note: This is about _consuming_ blood as food.
